Linda Reese Mathis Files for Divorce from Judge Greg Mathis After 39 Years of Marriage just shy of four decades together.
Linda, 61, officially filed for divorce in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, August 22, citing “irreconcilable differences” after 39 years of marriage.
In the filing, Linda noted that their date of separation was July 17, 2024. The couple, who wed in June 1985, share four adult children—Jade, 39, Camara, 36, Greg Jr., 35, and Amir, 34—so there are no custody arrangements to consider.
Linda has also requested spousal support, but it remains unclear if a prenuptial agreement exists, as the couple married before Greg Mathis’ career skyrocketed with his Daytime Emmy Award-winning reality court show, Judge Mathis.
A Look Back at Their Marriage
Judge Mathis, 64, and Linda’s relationship has been widely celebrated over the years. In April 2021, Mathis shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, posting a throwback photo from their wedding day and expressing how marrying Linda set him “on the path in the right direction.”
Mathis last posted about Linda on social media in January 2024, sharing affectionate photos of the couple enjoying a holiday trip to Cabo, Mexico.
“Linda and I had a great time celebrating the holidays in Cabo. A great way to end 2023,” he captioned the post.
Public Appearances and Recent Travels
The couple appeared in good spirits as recently as last year, traveling across Europe with a star-studded group that included Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Samuel L. Jackson, and their wives.
The group journeyed aboard Johnson’s 296-foot Phoenix 2 superyacht, visiting Mediterranean locales such as Greece and France.
Linda and Greg were photographed together, seemingly happy, during the luxury cruise, dining at renowned spots like Michelangelo in Antibes and Hotel Cala di Volpe in Sardinia.
The Mathises also made a public appearance in March 2024 at The Influencers Brunch, where they discussed the possibility of their family reality show, Mathis Family Matters, returning for another season.
In an interview with Baller Alert, Mathis described their family as “wholesome” and devoid of internal conflicts.
“We all have our flaws, but we don’t fight. Never have… If we have to fight, the answer is no [to returning],” he said.
Linda added, “Black families are great families and no, they’re not filled with inter fighting… We want to have a strong influence on our community and show that.”
