Oasis Reunion Tour Sparks Ticket Frenzy: Fans Battle for Seats Amid Resale Warnings

The highly anticipated Oasis reunion tour has triggered a ticket-buying frenzy, as fans scramble to secure seats for the band’s first live performances in 15 years.

Tickets for the UK and Ireland dates went on sale today, with overwhelming demand causing significant issues on major ticketing platforms, leading to frustration among eager concertgoers.

A Rocky Start for Ticket Sales

Tickets for the Oasis comeback tour became available at 09:00 BST, but fans were met with numerous challenges as they attempted to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster, See Tickets, and Gigsandtours.

Reports of website crashes and long virtual queues surfaced even before tickets officially went on sale.

Some users attempting to buy tickets for the London shows at Wembley Stadium in July and August 2025 found themselves behind over a million others in the queue.

Additionally, many were placed in a “queue for the queue,” redirected to pages indicating high demand on all three ticket-selling websites.

Early Bird Sales in Ireland

An hour earlier, tickets were released for the August 2025 shows at Dublin’s Croke Park, where fans also encountered difficulties accessing the Ticketmaster website.

Those who managed to get in line faced further frustrations, with some being ejected from the queue after being mistakenly identified as “bots”—automated programs often used to snap up tickets for resale at inflated prices.

These fans were removed from the queue despite waiting for over two hours.

Ticketmaster urged fans to remain patient, posting messages on their site that read: “As expected, Oasis is incredibly popular.

We’re processing orders as quickly as possible, so please keep your place in line.” The company later updated fans, indicating that while tickets were still available, inventory was becoming limited and not all price points were still offered.

Resale Warnings and Sky-High Prices

As tickets sold out within minutes, some buyers turned to resale websites like StubHub and Viagogo, where prices soared to staggering levels.

On Friday, during a three-hour pre-sale for select fans, tickets for the UK shows began appearing on these sites at prices up to 40 times their original value.

Some of the eye-watering listings included:

  • £6,000 for a show at Wembley Stadium in London on July 26
  • Between £916 and £4,519 for the tour’s opening concert at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4
  • Over £4,000 for standing tickets at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on August 12
  • More than £2,500 for the homecoming concert at Manchester’s Heaton Park on July 12

In contrast, official standing tickets were priced around £150, with standard seated tickets ranging from £73 to £205. Premium packages were also available, going up to £506.

Approximately 1.4 million tickets are expected to be released for the 17 outdoor concerts across the UK and Ireland in July and August 2025.

Oasis Takes a Stand Against Reselling

Oasis

Oasis has taken a firm stance against ticket reselling, warning fans that tickets purchased at inflated prices through unauthorized websites will be canceled.

The band urged buyers to only resell tickets at face value on authorized platforms such as Ticketmaster and Twickets. “Tickets sold in breach of the terms and conditions will be canceled by the promoters,” the band emphasized.

Despite the band’s efforts, Viagogo defended its role in the resale market, stating that resale is legal in the UK.

Cris Miller, Viagogo’s global managing director, assured fans that they are protected by the company’s guarantee, which ensures they will receive their tickets.

Miller added, “Demand will be at its peak when tickets hit the on-sale, but it’s not a normal reflection of what tickets can and will go for.”

A Triumphant Return

The Oasis reunion tour marks the end of a 15-year hiatus following the band’s split after a backstage altercation at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in 2009.

The announcement of the reunion, made by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher earlier this week, has reignited interest in the band, leading to a resurgence in sales and streams of their music.

Three of their albums have re-entered the top five of the UK charts, with their greatest hits collection Time Flies at number three, What’s The Story Morning Glory at number four, and Definitely Maybe at number five. A 30th-anniversary edition of Definitely Maybe was also released on Friday.

As excitement builds for the 2025 tour, fans continue to battle for tickets, hoping to witness the long-awaited return of one of the UK’s most iconic bands.
